DOG vs. CAT

あるイラストレーターさまの作品に猫のコスプレをしたレオタード姿の女性の絵がありました。
それを見て「面白いな」と感じたと同時に
「女性が猫なら男性は犬のコスプレをしてたら面白いんじゃないか？」
というアイデアが浮かびました。

その上で、ただコスプレしているだけでなく
彼らが将棋で対決していたら更に面白いのではないかと
発想を膨らませた結果生まれたのが本作品です。

女性がレオタード＋猫のコスプレというのは既定路線だったので
ある種その非日常な姿を異常にさせぬよう
男性や外枠装飾を配慮して描きました。
作品がひとつにまとまるか心配でしたが
完成作品を見るとそれほど違和感は無いのではないかと安心しました。
唯一違和感があるのは、男性も女性も駒は非常に持ちにくそうなところ。

One illustrator’s work included a picture of a woman in a leotard dressed as a cat.
When I saw it, I thought it was interesting, and at the same time I thought.
“If the woman is a cat, wouldn’t it be fun if the man dressed up as a dog?”
The idea came to me.

I then thought it would be even more interesting if they were not only cosplaying but also playing Shogi(Japanese chess) against each other.
I thought it would be even more interesting if they were playing chess against each other.
This work was born as a result of expanding the idea.

It was a default line for women to wear leotards and cat cosplay, so I thought it would be fun to see them in a kind of unusual way.
In order not to make the unusual appearance of a certain kind of unusual
I took the men and the outer frame decoration into consideration when drawing it.
I was worried about whether the work would come together as one.
But when I looked at the finished work, I was relieved to see that there was not so much discomfort.
The only thing that is uncomfortable is that both the male and female chess pieces look very difficult to hold.
